Mumbai: Congress activists in Maharashtra
would not allow sale of US author James Laine`s controversial
book on Shivaji Maharaj, MPCC chief Manikrao Thakre said
today.
"We will not allow sale of Laine`s book in the state,"
Thakre said after a meeting of senior state Congress leaders
here.
The meeting discussed and formulated strategy on
important issues like Maharashtra-Karnataka border dispute and
James Laine book, he said.
On the border dispute, Thakre said, "Belgaum belongs to
Maharashtra." A delegation of state Congress leaders will meet
Congress president Sonia Gandhi to apprise her of sentiments
of people of Maharashtra, he said.
Those who attended the meeting included Kripashankar
Singh, Narayan Rane, Patangrao Kadam, Harshvardhan Patil,
Subash Zanak, Ramesh Bagwe and Eknath Gaikwad.
