Mumbai: Maharashtra`s Congress-NCP government on Friday came under attack in the State Assembly from
MNS members for "neglecting" coastal security.
Legislators from the Raj Thackeray-led party said the
Government has not learnt any lessons from the sea-borne 26/11
terror attacks and had been "neglecting" coastal security.
Referring to the sinking of coal-laden vessel `MV Rak`
off Mumbai coast yesterday, Nitin Sardesai (MNS) said the
incident poses dangers to marine life.
The Home Department does not seem to have learnt anything after November 2008 attacks, he said. "Ships like Wisdom
and Pavit have drifted and landed at the seashore."
Sardesai demanded a discussion on the issue.
Deputy Speaker Vasant Purke asked the Government to
look into the matter.
Jaykumar Rawal (BJP) also highlighted the sinking of
`MV Rak` and demanded a statement from the Government.
