Mumbai: It`s not only MNS chief Raj
Thackeray who is campaigning for preference to locals in jobs
in the state, but Maharashtra Government is also keen to seek
appointment of Marathi officials in central establishments.

The demand has been raised in the draft cultural policy
of the State Government, which says "every establishment,
banks and corporations of the Centre in Maharashtra should
have one Marathi official along with Hindi-speaking official."
“Doordarshan and All India Radio should also have a
Marathi official," said the draft policy, presented to Chief
Minister Ashok Chavan. It would soon be discussed at the
cabinet meeting for final approval.
"Marathi officials would help local people approaching
the establishments for some work," president of the
Maharashtra State Cultural Policy Draft Committee, A H
Salunkhe told reporters.

The official for the post should have a degree in Marathi
language and the state would press the demand with the Union
Government, Salunkhe said.
