Mumbai: Maharashtra legislators on Thursday
felt the pinch of inflation on day one of the budget session
when the rates of canteen items increased many fold.

The canteen management has increased rates of the
otherwise affordable items many fold.

For example, rates of tea have been doubled and those
of snacks and meals have seen much higher growth.

A cup of tea used to cost Rs 3 in the air-conditioned
canteen, located on the ground floor of the `Vidhan Bhawan`.
Now it costs Rs 8.

Similarly, meal rates have gone up from around Rs 25
earlier to between Rs 60 and 110.

Meanwhile, legislators of the Raj Thackeray-led MNS
today arrived at Vidhan Bhawan in a horse-driven buggy,
wearing black badges to protest inflation.

Three MNS MLAs, suspended for attacking SP MLA Abu
Asim Azmi in the House during the last session, wore black
dresses.
