Maha opposition demands detailed probe in Adarsh scam

Maharashtra State Assembly demanded a full fledged probe in to the Adarsh Housing Society Scam by a joint legislative committee of the State Legislature and also suspension of tainted bureaucrats involved in the scam.

"We are boycotting the customary tea hosted by the Chief
Minister on the eve of commencement of Winter Session of
Maharashtra State Legislature here tomorrow since we don`t
want to sip tea with tainted Miniters in the Government,"
Oppositoin Leader Eknath Khadse (BJP) told reportes today.

Khadse said the joint legislative committee that will
probe the scam should be constituted under the Commission of
Inquiry Act.

He said when the incumbent Chief Minister Prithviraj
Chavan took over, he promised to give a clean administration
but unfortunately, he retained the ministers whose names have figured in the Adarsh scam.

"There is lack of transparency in the Chavan government,"
Khadse said, adding besides involvement of Ministers, Chavan
government should suspend those bureaucrats who have prima facie found involved in the scam.

"It was really unfortunate that the important papers from
Adarsh Society files were missing.. the government had to
lodge an FIR," he said.

Demanding Rs 50,000 per hectre compensation to the
horticulture and Rs 25,000 per hectare for other crops, which
have been damaged due to unseasonal rains across the state,
Khadse and Opposition Leader in State Legislative Council
Pandurang Phundkar said the state government should stop
forthwith the disconnection of power to the farmers and rural
customers who have not yet paid their electricity bills.
