Mumbai: The Maharashtra Minority Development
Department has provided training to 7,000 students from the
minority community over the past two years, to prepare them
for police recruitment.

Minority Affairs minister Naseem Khan has stated this in
a press release.

"To help them prepare for the police recruitment drive
undertaken by the Home Department, the Minority Development
Department would further give them a month`s training," the
statement said.

"According to the Sachar Commission report, there is a
low representation from the minority communities in the police
department. Therefore, for the welfare of minorities, the
Prime Minister has laid down 15 point programme," it added.

The statement further says that the 500 candidates, who
had successfully completed their training, have been selected
for the police force.

The minister also urged that those candidates, who want
to apply for the police posts, can register themselves on the
website www.mahapoliceonline.org.
