Maharashtra CM in Delhi, to discuss Assembly poll preparations

Maharashtra Chief Minister Pritiviraj Chavan arrived in the national capital on Saturday amid reports that several state leaders were gunning for his head ahead of the Legislative Assembly polls later this year.

New Delhi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Pritiviraj Chavan arrived in the national capital on Saturday amid reports that several state leaders were gunning for his head ahead of the Legislative Assembly polls later this year.

Chavan will hold talks with senior Congress leader AK Antony and Ahmad Patel, political secretary to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

Among other issues, Chavan will discuss preparations for the upcoming Assembly Elections.
The meeting holds importance in view of the party`s poor performance in Maharashtra in the recent General Elections.

Following the drubbing, chorus has been growing in Maharashtra Congress to replace Chavan.

The meeting today will also see discussions on the appointment of a new state Congress chief.
