Mumbai: Maharashtra government has acquired 29 additional patrolling boats for strengthening the coastal security.

The boats would be deployed by the end of this week.

"Of the 29, 19 boats would be deployed off Mumbai coast," said additional chief secretary (home) UC Sarangi.

Coastal security came into focus after 26/11 terror attacks.

The state already has 28 patrolling boats, given by the Centre.

"The new additions will help strengthen coastal security," Sarangi added.

Talking about security on December 31, he said enough police would be on Mumbai streets, to prevent eve-teasing and other anti-social behaviour.
