Maharashtra House proceedings stalled

Mumbai: Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on Thursday stalled the proceedings of the Lower House demanding free homes for mill workers.

Shiv Sena members wore T-shirts with slogans of free houses for the mill workers while MNS legislators displayed cloth banners.

Shiv Sena-BJP-MNS members gathered in the well as soon as the House assembled for the day. When the Speaker Dilip Walse Patil called for the Question Hour, Leader of opposition Eknath Khadse urged the Speaker to take up discussion on an adjournment notice given by the Opposition members about setting aside the Question Hour and taking up debate on the issue of free houses of mill workers.

The House had to be adjourned thrice. First for ten minutes, later till the end of the Question Hour at 1200 hrs and again till 1300 hrs, for the third time.

Shiv Sena executive President Uddhav Thackeray and MNS chief Raj Thackeray are to lead rallies in the city demanding free homes to the mill workers.
