Maharashtra: Maoists to observe "martyrs` week"

The Maoists observe the `martyrs` week` every year during which they set up memorials in remote villages in `honour of the deceased Naxals.

Gadchiroli: The Maoists have declared that they would observe a `martyrs` week` between July 28 and August 3 `in memory of` rebel leaders like Charu Majumdar and others killed in different encounters.

The outlaws have put up banners and posters at different places in the district to that effect.

The Maoists observe the `martyrs` week` every year during which they set up memorials in remote villages in `honour of the deceased Naxals, organise public meetings and tell the people about Naxal movement and also resort to violent and disruptive activities.
The police said they would beef up security arrangements during the week by deploying additional forces in strategic areas.
