Maharashtra minister decides to fill up 1,391 posts in his department

Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra's Minister of State for Revenue Sanjay Rathod on Wednesday announced to fill up 1,391 posts of Class III and Class IV government employees in his department.

Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra's Minister of State for Revenue Sanjay Rathod on Wednesday announced to fill up 1,391 posts of Class III and Class IV government employees in his department.

"There are 6,239 sanctioned posts of clerks-cum-typists to be filled up. Out of these, we will fill up 504 posts on July 12," Rathod said.

He said that out of the total 12,637 posts sanctioned for village revenue officials, 887 would be filled up on July 19.

Examinations for these posts, which have been vacant from the last year, will be conducted on these two days and result will be declared within 24 hours of the test, said Rathod.

"The state urgently needs more village revenue officials to conduct assessments (panchnamas) in drought-affected regions," he said.

Out of 887 village level land revenue officials, 96 will be filled up in Yavatmal, which is Rathod's guardian district, while Aurangabad division will get 222 new village level land revenue officials followed by 197 such officials in the Pune division, the minister said.

Incidentally, Rathod, who represents Digras assembly constituency in Yavatmal district had levelled allegations that he was sidelined in the Devendra Fadnavis cabinet.

Recently, he had also threatened to resign from his post, complaining that he was not being given adequate work by Maharashtra Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse (BJP).

Later, Khadse delegated some powers to Rathod to effect transfers and fill up vacancies of Class III and Class IV government employees as well as hold appeals on land related matters.

After receiving these powers, Rathod used them to fill up the vacant posts of clerks-cum-typists and village level land revenue officials ('talathis') across the state.
