Mumbai: Maharashtra`s Minister for Minority Affairs, Naseem Khan, on Saturday welcomed the Centre`s decision to fix a 4.5 per cent share for minorities within the existing 27 per cent OBC reservation, saying this would bring the backward minorities into the mainstream.
Congratulating UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi for
taking this initiative, Khan said such a step was recommended
by several organisations and it was a move in the right
direction and would help in making the nation more united.
Khan, however, hit out at the BJP, alleging that the
party was opposing this move on communal lines.
