New Delhi: They hailed Chattrapati Shivaji, late Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray and B R Ambedkar before taking oath in Lok Sabha and ended it with the trademark `Jai Maharashtra`.

Most of the elected members of Shiv Sena took oath in Marathi and started it by hailing Maratha warrior Shivaji and Thackeray. Some hailed Ambedkar, the key architect of the Constitution.

Many of them ended the oath with `Jai Maharashtra` or `Jai Maharashtra, Jai Hind`. With several members deviating from the written script, P A Sangma who was chairing the proceedings, reminded them to strictly stick to the script.

"Follow the script as per the Constitution of India. Do not go beyond what is written," said Sangma, a former Lok Sabha Speaker.

Anything beyond the written text provided to members will not form part of the proceedings, he said. Sadashiv Lokhande (Shiv Sena) took oath in the name of Sai Baba.
For Nanabhau Falgunrao Patole (BJP), the oath-taking was special as it coincided with his birthday today. BJP member from Bihar, Hukum Deo Narayan Yadav removed his footwear before taking oath.
Congress member from Kerala Kodikunnil Suresh took oath in Hindi, while others from the state chose either English or Malayalam.
