Gadchiroli: A group of armed Naxals
allegedly killed two persons, including a deputy sarpanch of a
village in Gadchiroli, suspecting them to be police informers,
police said.

A group of around 30 armed Naxals came to Joganguda
village in Aheri taluka in the wee hours today and picked up
two villagers, identified as Bapu Kanna Venka and Arjun
Talandi, both aged around 50 years. They were taken to deep
forests, where they were shot dead, police added.

Aheri Additional Superintendent of Police Sudhir
Hiremath told reporters here that the Naxalites suspected that
both the deceased were police informers and hence, in order to
create terror among the villagers they killed the duo.

Talandi was a deputy sarpanch of Joganguda village
panchayat, he said adding that police force has been posted in
the village after the incident.
