Maharashtra shocker: Dalit woman paraded naked

Satara: In a shocking incident, a Dalit widow was assaulted and reportedly paraded naked at Mulgaon village of Patan tehsil in Satara district, western Maharashtra, two days ago, after her son eloped with a girl from a high-caste family.

Patan police on Wednesday arrested Kisan Dattatray Desai (45), Hambirrao Bapurao Desai (39), Shantabai Kisan Desai (35), Vimal Vishwas Desai (32) and Sunita Hambirrao Desai (35) in the case under Indian Penal Code sections 143, 149 (unlawful assembly), 354 (assault with intention to outrage woman's modesty) and 324 (causing grievous hurt).

"We are investigating further," Sub-Divisional police officer Fattulal Naikawadi said.

On Monday, Rekha Chavan (42), a Dalit woman, was allegedly paraded naked and later assaulted as her 22-year-old son eloped with a girl from the Desai family.

The police however refused to confirm if the victim had been paraded naked. Chavan has been admitted to a hospital at Karad in the district.

Every indian should be ashamed for this. No wonder if people become maoist. This is not law and order problem. it is a social problem because of shameless, castiest citizens of this country. Why such incident do not rocks parliament? So called educated people of this country still accepts caste system. These shameless citizens of india will only demonstrate when their mothers will be paraded naked in front of whole world.

Really Its very shameful for our society, why our society is supporting for such deeds.A very strong law must be exist here so that no one will dare to do this deeds. Govt failed to protect minors like Dalits, Muslimof this state.

Too bad she was a dalit in Maharashtra, not a Muslim in Gujarat, otherwise activists such as Teesta, Arundhati, Digvijay, Sardesai etc. would have laucnhed media Blitz. It appears that in India human right concerns are restricted to Gujarat only.

Do not mix two things together, in Gujarat a massacred heppened against a particular religion under government cover-up and intention BUT this is(Vastra Hranan) bad character and immoral shame incident within the same Hindu religion and keep in in memory this is from ancient time practice , famous Darupadi Vastra Haran.
