Malegaon: The situation in Malegoan town in the district, where a mob had set on fire police vehicles and office of a minority-run school, is "peaceful and under-control," a senior police official said on Saturday.

Yesterday, a mob had set on fire police vehicles besides office of a minority-run school on reports of alleged sexual abuse of a five-year-old girl student by a sweeper on its premises in Ayesha Nagar locality.

Additional Superintendent of Police Sunil Kadasane said "the situation is peaceful and under-control with no untoward incident being reported in the night."

Police had detained the sweeper in connection with the alleged sexual assault of the girl that had reportedly taken place last week.

Trouble had started when the girl's parents met the school management yesterday, during which arguments broke out.
