Mumbai: Encouraging local youths to sit for railway examinations, the MNS on Wednesday released a handbook guiding Marathi job seekers to increase their presence in the Railways.

At a state executive meeting of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena here, its president Raj Thackeray distributed copies of the handbook to party activists, to be circulated among railway job aspirants in the state.

"We fight to get priority for the sons of soil in railway recruitment. But our youth are not much aware about the recruitment process," Thackeray said.

He advised locals to appear for railway examinations and increase the number of Maharashtrians in the public sector behemoth. In 2008, MNS activists had assaulted north Indian candidates appearing for the railway recruitment test in neighbouring Kalyan, opposing "outsiders" taking the test.

The handbook contains information on how to fill up the form, where to submit it, the documents that have to be attached and necessary qualifications for a particular post.
