Mumbai: In a bid to generate revenue to fund its projects, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), is planning to lease out its property along the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

The Corporation had appointed Darashaw and Company, a Mumbai-based firm, to carry out the corridor-planning and techno-economic feasibility study for the land development along the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

"We have some 23 lakh parcels (over 152-hectares) along the Expressway. We are exploring the option of developing them in public private partnership model for setting up facilities for providing customer-driven services. The revenue that would be generated from such projects could be used for funding the rest of our projects," MSRDC's Vice-Chairman and Managing Director (Additional Charge), Sonia Sethi, said here today.

The Corporation is planning to lease its plots for over 95-years, she added.

MSRDC is planning to lease out its first plot at Sanigaon (around 10-hectares) along the Expressway and has fixed a base price of Rs six-crore for the bid. The bids would be opened soon, an official from the Corporation said.

"We have identified a few sites for development of the roadside facility in a profitable and environmentally sensitive manner for commercialisation," she said.
