A police sub inspector was arrested by Navi Mumbai ACB for allegedly accepting a bribe from a builder in Bhayandar police station here.

Thane: A police sub inspector was
arrested by Navi Mumbai Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) here for
allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a builder in
Bhayandar police station here, sources said on Thursday.

According to the sources in ACB, the arrested accused
Shiv Shankar More (23), attached to Bhayandar police station,
had already collected the first instalment of Rs 75,000 of
bribe from the complainant Iqbal Mahadhik for not arresting
him in a property dispute case being investigated by the
officer.

Mahadhik was carrying out construction work at a site
near the Radhaswami Satsang Road in Bhayander(West). The work
was halted due to a dispute with another property dealer.

Mahadhik and the property dealer had filed cross complaints
with the Bhayander police station, police said.

When Mahadhik approached More to know the status of
his complaint, he allegedly demanded Rs 5 lakh from him which
was later settled at Rs 1.5 lakh.

following which he approached the ACB.
