Mumbai native dies in bus crash in US

An Indian woman succumbed to the injuries she sustained in a fatal tour bus crash last week in Delaware state in the US, the third victim of the accident.

New York: An Indian woman succumbed to the injuries she sustained in a fatal tour bus crash last week in Delaware state in the US, the third victim of the accident.

Jyostina Poojari, 43, from Mumbai was a passenger on the tour bus that crashed on September 21.
She sustained multiple traumatic injuries and was transported to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center in Newark where she remained in critical condition.

She was pronounced dead yesterday, Sergeant Paul Shavack of the Delaware State Police said in a statement. Poojari was the third female passenger who died from injuries sustained in the fatal tour bus crash.

Two other passengers, identified as 54-year-old Hua'y Chen of New York City, and 30-year-old Idil Bahsi, of Istanbul, Turkey, were killed and dozens were injured when the bus overturned on a curved exit ramp.

The bus driver 56-year-old Jinli Zhao of Flushing, New York, has been charged with two counts of operating a vehicle causing the death of another person.

Police said additional charges are likely to be filed as the investigation progresses.

The Delaware State Police Collison Reconstruction Unit along with the Delaware State Police Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program Unit, continue to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Preliminary investigation has determined that the crash was not caused by use of drugs and alcohol by the driver.
