Thane: In an effort to bring about the
change, the students from Mumbai schools saved from their
pocket money and donated the same in a project that involved
desilting a well in a tribal town in the district.
A group of students from schools in Mumbai under the
banner of Solar collected the pocket money given to them
throughout the year by their parents and used it for
community purpose in Murbad town.

The children took under their wings the expenses for
desilting and repairing a well in hamlet Gagurli of Murbad
taluka which was reeling under water shortage.

The gesture of the students touched the hearts of
villagers who felicitated them at a function recently.

The students even turned up as fund raisers as the
amount they had collected fell short initially.

Maharashtra Director of Posts, Abha Singh who
inaugurated the well restored in Murbad said, "A very good
example set by the students who also care for the villagers
and the society".
Moved by the gesture, she said the department of
Posts will also help in village development.
