Mumbai: Traffic on the Eastern Express
Highway in the metropolis was disrupted Tuesday after a chemical
tanker overturned in suburban Ghatkopar, police said.
The tanker, which was on its way to south Mumbai, turned
turtle on the highway near the Ghatkopar flyover after the
driver lost control over the vehicle, they said.
"The tanker was carrying the chemical Xylene
Hydrochloride, which started leaking out due to the accident.
Fire brigade officials were rushed to the spot to treat the
chemical following which all the south-bound traffic has been
diverted," Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic) S S
Officials from the National Disaster Response Force team
have also reached the spot, traffic police said.
