Nagpur: In an unusual fire accident, 6 cars, loaded in a trailer and 35 motorcycles parked near it, were gutted when the heavy vehicle caught fire and exploded in Pardi area on the outskirts of the city, police said on Monday.

According to police, the trailer had brought new cars to a local showroom from Gurgaon yesterday and was waiting to unload the vehicles near the showroom. Suddenly, smoke started emitting from it and the vehicle was soon engulfed in flames and the fire spread rapidly, police said.

The diesel tank of the trailer caught fire and exploded, followed by a loud noise. Soon, fire spread around the trailer and 35 bikes parked near it were engulfed in it. Six cars inside the trailer, were completely gutted, as the doors of the trailer could not be opened due to fire and heat, they added.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot, but nothing could be saved around the showroom. However, the showroom remained safe in the incident. The fire also left an impact on the vehicular traffic on a busy Nagpur-Bhandara road, police added.
