Nashik: None of the major political parties have announced their lists of candidates for the February 16 election of Nashik Municipal Corporation, but individual workers have started filing nominations.

So far 306 candidates have filed nominations, NMC sources said.

They include BJP's Seema Hiray, Shiv Sena's Surekha Bhosale, Congress's Mamta Patil, BJP's Vijay Sane and NCP's Gokul Pingale.

While Congress and NCP have formed alliance, the existing alliance of ruling Shiv Sena and BJP has broken up this time, due to failure of seat-sharing talks.

Shiv Sena had demanded 92 seats out of the total 122, while BJP wanted 89 seats.

Raj Thackeray-led MNS, which currently has 11 corporators, had put up an impressive performance in the last Lok Sabha election here. MNS has not formed alliance with any party for the civic polls.

NCP may improve its tally this time, going by the results of recent municipal council elections in the district.
