Naxal abducts village head in Maharashtra

Naxals have abducted a village sarpanch in eastern Maharashtra, police said.

Gondia (Maha): Naxals have abducted a village sarpanch in eastern Maharashtra, police said on Tuesday.

Ghanshyam Poretti, Sarpanch of Istari village in Deori tehsil, was kidnapped by a group of Maoists last night, Deori Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shashikant Borate said.
No complaint has been filed in this regard but police have launched a search operation in the region, he said.
