Nepal envoy meets Maharashtra Governor; thanks India for help during quake

Mumbai: The Ambassador of Nepal to India Deep Kumar Upadhyaya on Thursday called on the Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao at Raj Bhavan here.

The Ambassador thanked India for prompt assistance during the devastating earthquake that rocked Nepal in April this year, a release from the Raj Bhavan said.

"The best way to help Nepal would be to promote business cooperation with the country," Upadhyaya said. He also appealed to Bollywood filmmakers to resume shooting in the Himalayan country.

Stating that more than 7,00,000 houses were destroyed due to the earthquake in Nepal, he sought the help of developers in Mumbai to construct low-cost houses.

The Governor assured the Ambassador of all cooperation in promoting student and faculty exchange between the universities in Maharashtra and Nepal.

Upadhyaya also met the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during his visit here.
