Mumbai: Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan
Rane`s son Nitesh, who led a violent demonstration against cut
in water supply to Mumbai, today demanded the government look
into cause of death of a protestor, who died soon after police
baton charged the agitators, and take appropriate action.

The protestor, Viral Dholakia (43), was found unconscious
shortly after police canecharged and tried to disburse the mob
at Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters in
south Mumbai.

Though he was rushed to the G T hospital, he was
subsequently declared dead.

"The government should look into cause of the death. It
should take appropriate action (against police)," said Rane,
who was leading the agitation by `Swabhiman` organisation.
He said Dholakia had "died for Aam Aadmi and his
sacrifice cannot be forgotten".

"Dholakia is a martyr who laid down his life for public.
We will also verify with the hospital authority to establish
the cause of the death," Rane said.

Criticising the police, Rane said the "atrocious"
behaviour of the cops should not be tolerated. "We were
protesting in a peaceful manner and in return we lost our
activist`s life," he said, adding the protest would continue
till the issue of water problem was addressed.
