Mumbai: Maharashtra State Road Transport
Corporation (MSRTC) today decided not to ply buses to
Karnataka for next two days after the violence in the
neighbouring state over Maharashtra-Karnataka border row.
A bus operated by MSRTC was today torched near Kittur and
three buses were stoned earlier in the day, sources said.
The MSRTC has taken the decision to avoid damage to its
buses in the light of violence on the border dispute, sources
said.
Th MSRTC`s bus plying on Mumbai-Hubli route was burnt
near Kittur, which is near Belgaum, by some miscreants. Three
more buses were damaged in stone-pelting, sources said.
The MSRTC`s MD Deepak Kapoor has ordered closure of
operations in Karnataka for the next two days. Also, efforts
are being made to protect the buses already in Karnataka by
parking them at nearest police stations, the sources added.
