Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Friday refused
to grant any relief to a swimmer, who had approached the court
over her non-selection for the Commonwealth Games.
Division bench headed by Justice D K Deshmukh disposed of
the petition after Swimming Federation of India assured the
court that Anoushka Merchant, a Mumbai-based swimmer, could be
considered for Asian Games, which would follow later.
According to Merchant, the Swimming Federation of India
had earlier said it will select eight probables, but it later
named three girls without informing the other aspirants.
Last month, Mumbai-based wrestler Mayur Simhasane too had
moved the court challenging his non-selection but he too
failed to get any relief from the court.
