Thane: With the arrest of one person from Pune, the police here on Friday claimed to have solved a case of gang-rape involving a minor girl after three months.
PSI SR Shivad Shetty of the Mumbra police station said that the victim had gone out in the wee hours on December 6 along with her mother to collect water in the Mumbra Colony when two youths came in a van and picked the 15-year old girl in front of her mother.
She was allegedly gang-raped at village Agasan by the accused and later abandoned.
The police said they nabbed one of the accused Santosh Jadhav (22) from Katraj near Pune, a resident of Diva near Mumbra.
The police cracked the case tracing the mobile records of the accused and with the help from the service provider. The accused had destroyed the original SIM card and bought a new one, police said adding the hunt is still on for the other accused.
