Over 9,000 bogus BPL ration cards cancelled in Nagpur

Last Updated: Wednesday, August 11, 2010 - 22:26

Nagpur: The district administration here has
cancelled 9835 ration cards issued to people from below
poverty lines (BPL) after careful verification, official
sources said, today.

The action has been taken after a state-wide drive to
check bogus ration cards under BPL category and directives by
the Food and Civil Supplies and Rural Development Ministry on
June 19 for a random survey and filing criminal cases against
the beneficiaries.

The district administration has given a call to holders
of bogus ration cards to voluntarily surrender those cards,
sources added.
