PC held meeting to review security of Mumbai

Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil said the high-level meeting held with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram was about reviewing security scenario.

Patil on Tuesday said that the unscheduled high-level meeting held
with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram here was about
reviewing security scenario of the city.

The Union Home Minister yesterday night held a meeting
at Sahyadri Guest House in south Mumbai wherein he was
apprised about the course of investigations into the triple
blasts in the city and the steps taken regarding the
modernisation of the Maharashtra Police.

"The meeting was held to take review of security
scenario of Mumbai and police modernisation," Patil told
reporters here.
The high-level meeting, which lasted for almost 50
minutes, was attended by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan,
Home Minister R R Patil, Mumbai Police Commissioner Arup
Patnaik, ATS chief Rakesh Maria, state intelligence chief K L
Prasad and top bureaucrats.

Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Umesh Chandra
Sarangi who also attended the meeting today told PTI that it
was an "unstructured" meeting.

"There was no issue or agenda. There was no specific
agenda as such for the meeting," Sarangi said.

He also said that a high-level delegation will leave
for a three-day visit to London on September 19 to observe
security scenario in that country.
Besides Patil, Minister of state for Home Satej Patil
and Additional Commissioner of Police Vinit Agrawal will be
part of the delegation, Sarangi said.

On installing CCTVs in the metropolis he said, "ten
bids have come (for the installation) and by the month end the
request for proposal (RFP) would be received.
