Peon from Land survey dept booked for demanding Rs 4 lakh bribe in Raigadh

A peon with the Land Survey office in Raigadh district who allegedly demanded Rs 4 lakh bribe has been booked by the Thane Unit of the ACB.

Thane: A peon with the Land Survey office in Raigadh district who allegedly demanded Rs 4 lakh bribe has been booked by the Thane Unit of the ACB.

Additional SP ACB Thane Unit Shrinivas Ghadge told PTI Wednesday that peon Chandrakant Goud, with the Land Survey office at Panvel demanded the sum from the complainant on December 11, 2014 for carrying out a survey of a plot in Kharade Khurd.

Following this, the complainant approached the ACB which registered an offence against the peon with the Panvel police station yesterday, he said.

The peon has been booked under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1998. He has not been arrested yet, the officer added.

The complainant is working as a liasoning officer with the Anthony Garage which had a plot of land in Kharade Khurd for which the survey was to be carried out.
