Mumbai: Criticising the new industrial policy announced by the Maharashtra government, Shiv Sena on Sunday said people with "no knowledge" of the subject have framed it.

"The new industrial policy is incomplete. It needs much more improvement," senior Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi told reporters here.

Without naming Industries Minister Narayan Rane, he said people who have "no knowledge" of the subject have designed it.

Demanding a public debate on the new policy, he said, "Earlier, there used to be discussions on such policies. However, now some people think that they know everything and themselves take decisions."

The new policy, though welcomed by the industry, has been slammed by the opposition as it seeks to allow 40 per cent area in the erstwhile SEZs for residential purpose while 60 per cent has been earmarked for setting up industries. The opposition parties have alleged that it was meant to benefit the builders.

BJP had also criticised the policy for ignoring backward regions like Marathwada, Vidharbha and Khandesh.
