Sivanandan today appeared in the Bombay High Court and assured
that police are trying their level best to trace the
absconding convict in Datta Samant murder case.
Division bench headed by Justice B H Marlapalle had
summoned Sivanandan as Vijay Thopate, convicted for murder of
union leader Datta Samant in 1997, is missing.
Thopate jumped his parole in 2005.
Sivanandan appeared before the court today, and told the
court that a cash reward of Rs 20,000 has been declared for
any information about his whereabouts.
Court directed that wide publicity should be given about
his absconding in media.
Matter has been now adjourned to June 9.
