Polls: Two warring Congmen in Nagpur join hands

Ahead of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) polls, two warring Congress stalwarts from the city seem to have buried their old differences.

Nagpur: Ahead of the Nagpur Municipal
Corporation (NMC) polls scheduled on February 16, two warring
Congress stalwarts from the city seem to have buried their old
differences.

Former Maharashtra Minister Satish Chaturvedi, who had
allegedly tried to "engineer" the defeat of city MP Vilas
Muttemwar in the past, on Sunday felicitated the latter for
becoming the general-secretary of All India Congress Committee
(AICC).

During the function, top Congress leaders launched an
attack on the ruling BJP for "indulging in corruption" and
alleging that "development activities have taken a back seat
during the BJP rule."

Muttemwar, Chaturvedi and Maharashtra EGS Minister
Nitin Raut criticised the BJP saying, "whatever development
the city had witnessed, was thanks to the financial assistance
of the Centre."

Last month, chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, without
naming Chaturvedi and Muttemwar, had advised the two Congress
leaders to shed their differences and fight unitedly for the
civic polls.
