Mumbai: Absconding senior police inspector
Arun Borude, accused of raping a 15-year-old girl, was on Wednesday dismissed from service on grounds of "immoral conduct" even as
police launched a massive manhunt for him.
"The State Director General of Police (D Sivanandan)
ordered for Borude`s dismissal under Article 311 of the
Constitution on grounds of immoral conduct. As per the order,
he has been dismissed today," said City Police Commissioner
He said Borude being a senior police officer has brought
shame to the entire police force and the department is "very
angry" with him. "We are also convinced that he was involved
in the crime."
"A very large number of teams comprising of local police
and Crime Branch officials have been formed to trace Borude.
Every effort is being made to find him," he said, adding "at
this moment, he is the only one, who is wanted in the case".
The victim had lodged a complaint a fortnight ago at the
suburban Powai police station alleging that she was raped on
several occasions by more than three persons at different
places in the city including an Andheri flat, police said.
The case came to light after the girl became pregnant and
delivered a baby girl in October.
Two real estate agents, Mohanchand Shyam (45) and
Satyanarayan Gupta (45) were arrested on Sunday in the case
but Borude, who was once known as `encounter specialist`, is
Shyam and Gupta, whose police custody ended today, were
produced before a local court which sent them to judicial
remand, police said.
Borude had been suspended after his name surfaced in the
terror suspect Khwaja Yunus` custodial death case. Yunus was
arrested and booked under POTA in the 2002 Ghatkopar BEST
The probe into death of Yunus suggested that he died
in police custody after which some police officers including
Borude were suspended. However, he was later re-instated and
returned as Senior Inspector at LT Marg Police Station.
The police had also arrested one Shanta Gaikwad for
allegedly providing minor girls, including the 15-year-old
victim, for prostitution in Powai area, where she was employed
as a domestic help.

All the four accused were charged under Sections 366 A
(Procreation of minor girl), 376 (Rape) and 34 (Acts done by
several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC and
relevant sections of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act
"During the probe, Gaikwad had shown the scene of the
crime where Borude allegedly raped her. The girl was sexually
abused in a flat (on 4th floor of Emerald Court building in
Andheri), which is next to Borude`s house. The flat was sealed
