Pune Don Bosco VP arrested for alleged molestation

Pune: In yet another shocking incident, the vice-principal of Don Bosco School was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly molesting a school student.

Vice-principal Iju Francis Falkau, 54, had called the 14-year-old girl, in his office on January 2 around 1 PM when he allegedly molested her, police said.

Based on a complaint, a case was booked against the accused yesterday under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 511 of the IPC and subsequently he was arrested today, they said.

Soon after the news spread, the incident triggered public protest and several political workers also gathered outside the school demanding the immediate arrest of the vice principal.

Don Bosco is one of the most prestigious academic institutions of Pune, and such an incident is sure to elevate the current paranoia about sexual vulnerability in the country.

One of the three students who made an allegation that she was molested and has now withdrawn her allegation has openly stated that the mother of the student who claimed her daughter was molested forced her to support her daughters statement and make a false allegation. For this the mother of the student who claimed to be molested should also be arrested and tried for tampering with a witness to make a false allegation. On the basis of this false allegation the Vice Principal has been arrested and charged.

To all those saying 4 girls complained...get your facts right - one girl was molested, and 3 others witnessed the event when the victim shouted and ran out the prinicpal`s office. For those who claim to know Falcao, you might remember him as a nice guy, but even nice guys commit crimes and must get punished if found guilty. Lets cut the girl some slack - shes just 14 & being raised by a single mother - imagine the courage it took the 2 of them to lodge the complaint!! If this is how us ``educated`` folks will dismiss such incidents, good luck in fighting sexual harassment of women in our society.

This is rubbish. Fr. Esau is a very nice priest and has I know him personally cos he was my younger brother`s Principal at St. Dominic Savio, Andheri. He was a strict priest and was someone that we all looked upto. This is a false rumour. Mr. Avtar Singh, they have arrested him but they have yet not said he is guilty, If you know the man well, you definetely wouldnt have said what your saying.

shame on iju . his age is 54 and tried to rape a girl who is just of 14 years . iju falkau should be torchered and or should be punished . . . I avtarsingh mehra my self presently studying in DON BOSCO HIGH SCHOOL as per a know him but he should be punished in such a way that no one should dare to it . Iju has dropted the name of the DON BOSCO INSTITUE which was well set up by Fr. DONALD . As per me this was not the teachings of Saint JHON BOSCO .

Mr. Avtar Singh Mehra, if you have really known the vice principal you would have known the fact & never would have never opened your dirty mouth to blame him. You are a shame on Don Bosco High School if you are really studying in this school. Fr. Iju Falkau is known to be strict & disciplined person. He wanted this students to be good in their academics & be a good human being for more details read 24th Jan 2013 news papers you will get to know the fact about this girl also and thats the reason he is being blamed for what he has not done. I am not saying to trust blindly but open your eyes wide open and see the truth behind it. He has always tried to help everyone. I think you are among the one whom he has punished. Its better to shut your mouth than to talk baseless and nonsense things when you dont know the truth. So wait and watch till the truth is known. Dont speak what you dont know.

It is a shame. Do people who are unmarried be entrusted with our children. DONBOSCO is the trademark of DONBOSCO Educational trust and it hurts that Priests stoop to such a low level. It hurts the the prestige of the Legal trademark holders of DONBOSCO.

It is strange that 4 girls complained. Is it a conspiracy and motivated plan since the vice principal is very strict on students for their goodness. It seems that there is a motivated attack to spoil the name of the school.

charges if misbehaviour by 4 students seems strange. charge by one student understandable.Look like there is a gang up against the Vice Principal. Were the 4 students scolded or punished for lagging behind their studies or assignments or for some misbehaviour in the classes?

This news is really shocking as I am an ex student of Don Bosco High School, Pune. But in the news it self you have mentioned that the offence is not clear yet than how can you blame the Vice Principal of raping school students. Unless it is proved dont blame anyone. There are cases where false allegations are put on people there is fresh case of Bhatinta. So its a request unless it is proved dont mentioned this person as rapist. But yes if he has really done so than he has to be punished.
