MNS chief Raj Thackeray today moved the Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court seeking quashing of a non-bailable arrest warrant against him in a case related to stoning of a state transport bus in neighbouring Jalna district.

Aurangabad: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena
(MNS) President Raj Thackeray today moved the Aurangabad Bench
of the Bombay High Court seeking quashing of a non-bailable
arrest warrant against him in a case related to stoning of a
state transport bus in neighbouring Jalna district.

Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) at Badnapur
tehisil of Jalna had issued the warrant against Raj, booked by
police under IPC sections 336 (Act endangering life or
personal safety of others), 114 (abettor present when offence
is committed), among others, and Prevention of Damage to
Public Property Act and Bombay Police Act on October 21, 2008.
A bus driver, Ambadas Telangare, had filed a police
complaint saying 10 to 15 unidentified persons stoned the bus
he was driving near the Hirvi phata. Police had charge-sheeted
Raj in the matter.

The JMFC issued the warrant against Raj on December 5,
2009 after rejecting his plea for a stay.

The MNS chief`s counsel, Sagar Ladda, said Raj had
been falsely implicated in the matter. Raj was in custody of
Mumbai Police and not present on the spot when the incident of
stone pelting took place, he said.

He appealed to the High Court to set aside the warrant
and quash the proceedings before the JMFC.
