Nashik: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray here inaugurated a 'traffic park' for children in city's Tidke colony.
The park, set up at the cost of Rs 3.5 crore, has been developed by city-based NGO Nashik First on three acres land at Tidke colony here, supported by corporates Mahindra & Mahindra and Lord India Pvt Ltd.
The unique park has basic information of traffic rules and regulations depicted through dummy signals, boards containing traffic signs like no entry, one-way, U-turn et al, zebra crossing, road safety rules, maps. It also has an amphitheatre.
On the occasion yesterday, Thackeray said it is a laudable initiative taken to educate children about traffic rules at an early age but suggested the NGO to also display sign boards and instructions in Marathi language so that a large number of people can understand it.
Chairman of Nashik First Abhay Kulkarni apprised that plot for the park has been made available by Nashik Municipal Corporation on a rental basis, while the two corporates have aided financially towards setting up of the park.
He said a special guidebook has been prepared by NGO member Dr Madhukar Shembade and interactive sessions with students will be taken up at the amphitheatre in coming days.
City mayor Ashok Murtadak, former Maharashtra DGP P S Pasaricha, executives of Mahindra & Mahindra, Lord India and others were also present on the occasion.
