Senior bureaucrat Amitabh Rajan is likely to be appointed as the new Home Secretary of Maharashtra following the retirement of Umesh Chandra Sarangi.

likely to be appointed as the new Home Secretary of
Maharashtra following the retirement of Umesh Chandra Sarangi
last month, Secretariat sources said.
At present, additional chief secretary (public health)
J K Banthia holds the additional charge of the home
Other names that are doing the rounds for the post are J S
Saharia (1978 IAS batch) and Swadhin Kshatriya (1980 IAS
batch), the sources said.
Rajan, a 1979-batch IAS officer, has been on Central
deputation since November 11, 2010. Saharia is now additional
chief secretary (relief and rehabilitation), while Kshatriya
is the additional chief secretary in the revenue department.

secretaries, including Rajan and Kshatriya, as additional
The Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet had last
month approved the assignment of additional charge of the post
of Director of Enforcement, Directorate of Enforcement
under the Revenue Department, to Rajan, now based in Delhi.
