Mumbai: In what is certainly good news for Mumbaikars, the Central Railway appears all set to introduce 12-coach trains on the Harbour line from April 21.
As per a report in the Hindustan Times, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu is likely to flag off the new rack as he will be in the city tomorrow to participate in a function at Matunga car-shed.
The Harbour line is currently serviced by nine-coach trains that run a total of 590 services a day.
With the conversion to 12-coach rakes, the carrying capacity of each train will go up by 33%, provide relief to lakhs of commuters who depend on the lifeline.
