RTI activist murder: Police for narco test on accused lawyer

Police has sought court permission for a narco test on a lawyer, arrested in connection with the human rights activist Satish Shetty murder case.

Pune: Police has sought court permission for
a narco test on a lawyer, arrested in connection with the
human rights activist Satish Shetty murder case.

An application seeking permission for the test on
advocate Vijay Dabhade was filed yesterday before Judicial
Magistrate (First Class) R D Hajare at the Wadgaon-Maval taluk
court, police said.

Dabhade, along with two other accused, has been remanded
to police custody till January 25 by the magistrate.
Meanwhile, police have arrested one more person - Dengrya
Rathod - in connection with the murder case.

Shetty, a well-known RTI activist, was hacked to death by
unidentified assailants at Talegaon village in Pune district
on January 13.

Dabhade has been charged by prosecution of having engaged
contract killers to eliminate Shetty with whom he allegedly
had enmity after the activist exposed his illegal dealings.

The police application for narco test on the accused is
expected to come up for hearing on January 21.
