Scarcity-hit farmer hangs self in Nashik

Nashik: A 56-year-old farmer hanged himself to a tree at his field in Tehare village of the district, owing to indebtedness and crop failure as a result of water scarcity, police said today.

Hiraman Shevale had borrowed Rs 4 lakh from a credit cooperative society but could not return it due to failure of crops, police said.

The distressed farmer hanged himself to a tree at his agricultural field, they added.
