Sena threatens to expose media which project it in bad ligh

Accusing media of being biased, Shiv Sena on Tuesday threatened to expose media organisations which mislead the people and make "irresponsible comments" on the saffron party.

Mumbai: Accusing media of being biased, Shiv Sena on Tuesday threatened to expose media organisations which mislead the people and make "irresponsible comments" on the saffron party.

"Everybody knows that Shiv Sena is supporting the Union government and is sitting in Opposition in Maharashtra. But, there are certain media outfits that are making irresponsible comments on the Sena's stand," an editorial in party mouthpiece 'Saamana' said today.

"These self-proclaimed clever media organisations are muddling the minds of the people against the Sena to suit some political party," it alleged while adding that "we will have to soon blow the lid of such organisations."

The media self-evaluates statements of politicians and parties in the name of 'freedom of press', the Sena said.

"As soon as a politician or a political party makes a statement, the media pounces on it like vultures do on a dead body. Whatever may be said or written by a politician, media self-evaluates their statements in the name of freedom of press," it said.

"Every media outfit claws on these statements in their own way and there is a competition among them on who dissects the statements the most," it said.

Inspite of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reportedly admitting that he faced a lot of criticism for the manner in which the trust vote was carried out, the media is continuing to malign the Sena, the editorial alleged.

"Devendra Fadnavis himself admitted that he faced a lot of flak for conducting the trust vote through a voice motion. But the media insists on maligning the Sena's name. This is not an example of good journalism," it said.
