Serial blasts rock Pune, alert across Maharashtra Zeenews Bureau

Pune: High alert was declared in the state of Maharashtra as a series of well-coordinated bomb blasts ripped through the heart of Pune on Wednesday.

Four blasts of low intensity took place in quick succession within a radius of 500 metres of Jangali Maharaj Road, injuring one - the very person carrying the explosives.

Home Secretary RK Singh has not ruled out terror angle saying that the blasts have been carried out in a very well-planned manner.

However, Home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde dodged the questions over a terror link to the blasts and said that these were minor blasts that occurred between 7.27 pm and 8.15 pm.

Police Commissioner of Pune, Gulabrao Pol, spoke to Zee News saying that detonators and batteries were used in the blasts.

He further said that one of the blasts occurred in a plastic bag being carried by a person, who got injured. He has been identified as Dayanand Patil and is being interrogated by the police.

Trying to avert a wave of panic among citizens, Pune Police Commissioner said that the blasts were of low intensity and public need not panic. He assured, "Police are alert and doing their job".

Three blasts took place on bicycle and the fourth in a garbage dump.

First explosion occurred in a garbage dump near McDonalds outlet after which another blast took place outside Bal Gandarv theatre auditorium.

Very significantly, Sushil Kumar Shinde, was to arrive here this evening.

Third explosion occured near Dena Bank ATM, where the bomb was kept on a bicycle career.

Fourth blast took place at Garware bridge.

Two more live bombs were recovered from the area, which were diffused by the bomb disposal squad.

Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad has been handed over the investigation of the serial blasts.

The first visuals on Zee News showed cops flashing torches over the garbage heap outside the Bal Gandarv auditorium.

The police have also accessed the CCTV footage of the area, which is being viewed for further information.

The blasts bring back the tragic memories of the fateful German Bakery blasts that had claimed 17 lives.

It is a shameful incident. what the government does! I am surprised to see that the terrorists are going to terrorize the country time and again through various ways but the state as well as the central government have to do nothing on this area. We elect them not only to impose various kinds of policies regarding economic, education but also to take necessary steps to protect us from the danger. But we are Indian and we do not fear the evil power.

Considering Iran`s involvement in the attack on an Isreali diplomat, this is the work of Iranian funded and backed terrorism carried out by the Indian Islamic terrorists However considering the huge number of Bangideshis,Afghans,Palestinians, etc in the city any one of these fellows could have received funds from the Iranians or their freinds the Pakis to stage these attacks

Perhaps terrorist are more interested to taste Indian biryani, so they do this kind of activity again and again. And Kasaab may be the inspiration to them.Perhaps Indian Jails for terrorist is more than a first class resturent, so they are booking their rooms in this manner. Shame on us and on our Govt. The system will not change till that time when we can a really well qualified gentlemen as our Govt.

Thank God for no loss of life in this incident.Secondly, its heartening to see that instead of the regular rhetoric against Muslims, people are trying to find the possible reasons and the attention diverting tactics of Politicians. The suspect who was taken into custody was at the site of agitation, meaning that there was definete police presence at the agitation site.Majority of people here seem to have start understanding that now and that shows that we are improving as a country and this should show in the 2014 Elections.

Terrorists apparently wanted to send out a weird signal by using low-intensity explosives with meticulous planning. It is indeed a condemnable act of violence against people. This said, I fail to understand how come a bicycle has a `career` (to pursue?) and the bombs were `diffused` by the terrorists or Bomb Disposal Squad.

every year we see terrorist attacks..and every attack takes away the life of innocent indian people & but the government has no impact on it..instead of knowing the brutality of its neighbouring country (pakistan) it only orders for probe which continues until the further blast takes place..govt. has nothing to do with the life of a people instead it tries to strengthen its vote bank...this govt. looks really disabled or either it constitutes of traitor ministers who can even sell their motherland in the hands of terrorists..shame on indian govt..now the right time has come that either the govt. takes any strict action or the people should take any strict action against the government

The government was unable to do anything when its seat of power i.e. the parliament was attacked. How can you expect our politicians to do something when a McDonald`s is attacked.

It could be conspiracy by CORRUPT CONGRESS they can go to any extent to divert the ongoing protest by people at JANTAR MANTAR and across 400 cities in India/ Recently NCP had pact with congress, this could be a part of package.

This is again done by some government agenda. whenever some one stands against fighting corruption and the corrupt government, they do the blast to overlook the actual issue of the country. Indian youth should wake up before this government make our country same like Pakistan, Afghanistan
