Mumbai: Shiv Sena leader Anil Desai on Saturday revealed that his party will not be putting up candidates against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA and daughter of late Gopinath Munde, Pankaja Munde from the Parli constituency in Beed and in one more seat in Mumbai.

"We have put up candidates in 286 seats except in two places. Uddhav Thackeray had made a promise as a brother to late BJP leader Gopinath Munde, so no candidate will be contesting against Pankaja Munde from Parli Assembly seat in order to keep in his word," Desai told ANI here.

The Shiv Sena leader said that those candidates who were associated with the grassroots and had fought for the people have been tickets. He added that post Shiv Sena-BJP break-up, party chief Uddhav Thackeray's proposed rally today will see him explaining the people how he had tried to salvage the alliance with the BJP.

He also said that at this moment Maharashtra needs leadership of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.

"I would say that people of Maharashtra need the leadership of Uddhav who has personality, character and he does what he says and he speaks the truth."
