Three held for duping house buyers of Rs 1.50 cr

Three persons including a woman have been arrested for allegedly duping several prospective house buyers to the tune of Rs 1.50 crore, police said Tuesday.

Thane: Three persons including a woman have been arrested for allegedly duping several prospective house buyers to the tune of Rs 1.50 crore, police said Tuesday.

According to API A S Ghatge of Vishnunagar Police station in Dombivili the trio--Anand Maladkar, Anand Kamble and Sunita Salvi -- cheated buyers mostly from Dombivili, Malad, Virar and western suburbs of Mumbai, promising them to get houses under the MHADA housing schemes and extracted money from them.
They cheated many people and some are still approaching various police stations in Mumbai and Economic Offences Wing for lodging their complaints, police said.

The accused took money from them and issued allotment letters which later turned out to be fake, police said.

Besides some of the needy were also promised jobs police said.

The trio have been booked under sections 420,465, 468 471 rw 34 of the IPC, police said.
