Three Navy sailors arrested on molestation charges

Three Indian Navy sailors have been arrested for allegedly molesting three girls and assaulting policemen when they intervened, police said today.

policemen when they intervened, police said today.

According to police, the incident occurred on Saturday
night when the three girls along with two boys came out of the
Regal theatre in South Mumbai after watching a movie.

The accused identified as Animesh Thakur (26), Bhagat
Singh (26) and Gangadhar Kushawa (28) were in an inebriated
condition and started making vulgar comments, police said.

The group of five initially ignored the Navy men and went
to a nearby ATM to withdraw cash. The accused followed them
and started groping them, leading to an altercation between
the two boys and the three accused.

Hearing the commotion, a police patrolling van reached
the spot but the accused assaulted the cops as well, police
said.

The three Navy men were subsequently arrested on Saturday
night and were remanded to police custody till today by a
local court, police said adding the Navy has taken the custody
of the accused to conduct an enquiry into the allegations.
