Mumbai: Security was heightened at the
suburban Santacruz railway station here following threats to
blow it up today, railway police said.
"We received specific inputs that platform number 3
of Santacruz railway station would be blown up following
which railway police, railway protection force, bomb disposal
and detection squad teams have been deployed at the station,"
said S Ashok, Senior Inspector at Bandra railway police
station.
Bags were being checked and policemen were seen
frisking people at the station. Alert cops dressed in plain
clothes were on trains to keep an eye on the movement of
suspicious persons.
Security at other railway stations in the metropolis
was also beefed up in wake of the threat, police said.
